Over 630,000 Pakistanis left the country in the first nine months of 2023 in search of better job possibilities abroad.

According to data from the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, as of September, 633,108 Pakistanis had registered for foreign employment during the current calendar year.

Until July, the number of Pakistanis who had left the country for work stood at 540,282, implying that over 92,000 people departed Pakistan in September in pursuit of work.
A closer look at the figures reveals that 275,433 of these people were classified as laborers throughout the given time period, while 141,282 were classified as drivers.
There were also 6,351 engineers, 5,876 accountants, 2,580 doctors, and 1,194 teachers among the departing Pakistanis.

According to the data, 17,058 were highly qualified, 35,414 were highly skilled, 232,933 were skilled, 65,922 were semi-skilled, and the vast majority, 281,781, were unskilled.
Among these departures, 302,634 people moved to Saudi Arabia, 173,561 to the United Arab Emirates, 44,567 to Oman, and 44,777 to Qatar.
Malaysia (18,609), Bahrain (9,599), Romania (4,405), Greece (2,676), and Iraq (2,646) were also popular destinations for job seekers.
It is crucial to note that the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment statistics only applies to people who have legally registered with the Bureau.
This list excludes those who travel overseas for educational purposes or through other immigration processes.
In the previous year, 832,339 Pakistanis went abroad for work, the greatest number since 2016.
