Several automakers are attempting to profit on the rapidly increasing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) around the world. China, in particular, is one of the world’s hottest EV markets, as it is home to several up-and-coming EV manufacturers.
In a recent move on this front, Seres, a Chinese manufacturer, has unveiled AITO, a new high-end EV brand, as well as the Pure Electric Drive Extended Range Platform, a new EV platform (DE-i). To underline the brand’s propensity toward smart technology, the name AITO is derived from “Adding Intelligence To Auto.”
Seres, DFSK-Motors‘ dedicated EV brand, has teamed up with Huawei to include an advanced Harmony Operating System (HarmonyOS) in its EV lineup. HarmonyOS is Huawei’s dedicated operating system, which is integrated into Seres and AITO EVs’ “Smart Cockpits.”
This operating system will deliver over-the-air updates for the Seres and AITO EVs, making it a complete lifeline for these vehicles. It will make its initial appearance in AITO’s first vehicle, the M5 Concept.
The AITO M5, which is not to be confused with the BMW M5, is a midsize luxury SUV that competes with the MG Marvel R. According to specifications, the M5 has two electric motors with a combined output of 422 horsepower. A 1.5-litre internal combustion engine (ICE) will be used as a range extender on the car.
According to the business, the vehicle will be fitted with a 1.3-tonne, 200-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that, when combined with the range extender, will provide an electric range of 1000 kilometers.
The vehicle’s name, launch date, and pricing have yet to be determined by the corporation. However, it is likely to be released in the first quarter of next year.
It’s worth noting, though, that the addition of Huawei’s HarmonyOS will almost certainly make it an uncommon buyer’s choice, as most consumers choose Apple Carplay or Android Auto. The vehicle, on the other hand, should do well in the Chinese market in terms of demand.
