FIFA has decided to lift the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation in exchange for the Normalization Committee regaining control of its headquarters.
Pakistan was banned by FIFA a year ago. The suspension was imposed after unauthorized personnel took control of the Football House in Lahore. FIFA has previously stated that the ban on Pakistan’s participation in sports will not be lifted until control of the Football Headquarters is returned to the FIFA-appointed Normalization Committee.
The government and PFF were working together to revitalize the game in the country. FIFA has now announced that the ban on PFF will be lifted following the transfer of control of Football headquarters to its Normalization Committee in the coming days.
Previously, the government of Pakistan has taken some serious steps to normalize football activities in the country. PFF was banned by FIFA last year when a gang of unauthorized personnel assaulted Pakistan’s Football Headquarters and usurped control from the FIFA-appointed PFF Normalization Committee.
It was said that the PFF suspension would not be lifted until the normalization committee of FIFA regained entire control of the headquarters.
The announcement is a breath of fresh air for footballers and related people, as the game of football in Pakistan has been suffering as a result of mismanagement by concerned parties.
