According to a Friday news report from News Agency, 243 Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) personnel who work in the country’s cybercrime circle were not paid for two months.
The Grade 1 through Grade 14 contractual employees of the FIA cybercrime circle reportedly did not get salaries.
The officers and personnel were deputed on a contractual basis for a long time for NR3C Project Phase III.
The last time, the contracts of the aforementioned employees were extended from July 1 to August 31.
For the month of September and subsequent months, the authorities have not yet issued any directives pertaining to a further extension.
The National Response Center for Cyber Crime (NR3C) is the latest introduction to the FIA’s mandate to combat technology-based crime, primarily in Pakistan.
According to its official website, it is the only unit of its kind in the country, and in addition to the complaints it receives directly, other law enforcement agencies assist in their own cases.
NR3C has expertise in digital forensics, technical investigations, information system security audits, penetration testing, and training.
Since its inception, the unit has been involved in capacity building for police, intelligence, judicial, prosecutorial, and other government officials organizations.
NR3C has also conducted numerous seminars, workshops, and training/awareness programs for academia, print/electronic media, and lawyers.
Cyber Scouts is likewise a drive of NR3C, in which, chosen understudies of various private and state-funded schools are prepared to manage PC crises and spread awareness among their fellow understudies, educators, and guardians.
