The 2022 Saga makeover has finally been released by Proton. Saga, also known as the people’s car in Malaysia, has long been a best-seller there.
Because it is a mid-cycle facelift, Proton has not made significant changes to its best-seller. The 2022 Saga, often known as the MC2 Saga, features a few small upgrades that improve it slightly over its predecessor.

Glance
MC2 Saga appears identical to the untrained eye. The redesigned round symbol, a revamped alloy rim design (14′′ in low-end variants, 15′′ in high-end variants), side skirts with front bumper extension (Premium S variant only), and a red line beneath the front grille are all noticeable modifications (Premium S variant only). A new black trim price with Proton inscribed on it has been added to the trunk lid.
The inside is largely unchanged from previous models, with the exception of new climate control knobs, a somewhat revised gauge cluster, an updated infotainment system, and red accents around the A.C. vents in the Premium S variation, while silver accents are used in other models.
Features
The previous edition of the Proton Saga was already among the better-equipped economy cars. However, MC2 Saga has a number of improvements over the previous model.

As seen above, MC2 Saga now has a new top-tier variant known as Premium S, bringing the total number of varieties to four.
Performance
The MC2 Saga’s powertrain is based on the Pakistani-spec Saga, which has a naturally aspirated 1298cc 4-cylinder petrol engine with 95 horsepower and 120 Newton-meters of torque.
The 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the Standard manual, whereas all other models have a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The old Malaysian-spec Saga model used the same 1332cc engine as the Pakistani-spec Saga. This explains why Proton has reduced the engine size of the MC2 Saga for Malaysia.
The automobile is equipped with a McPherson strut suspension in the front and a torsion bar coil-spring in the back, resulting in a pleasant and comfortable ride.
It also incorporates anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, and braking assist technology on all four wheels.
Price
The price of MC2 Saga starts at RM 34,400 (Rs. 1.5 million) and rises to RM 44,300. (Rs. 1.9 million). It’s worth noting that the Proton Saga is a wholly indigenous car built in Malaysia, whereas it’s imported in Pakistan disassembled, increasing the cost of production. This gives Malaysia a huge cost advantage over Pakistan, which translates to a lower price for Saga in Pakistan.
