An electric car is a car that is driven by one or more electric motors, using power stored in rechargeable batteries. As compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric wheels are quieter and have no exhaust emissions and lower emissions.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry announced that battery-powered electric cars would soon arrive in Pakistan. He announced this during the launch of an updated version of the Lahore Chambers of Commerce website.
Fawad Chaudhry stated that the government is taking each necessary measures to make Pakistan economically sound. He also credited Prime Minister Imran Khan for the revival of economic activities.
“Pakistan is among eighteen countries that make their ventilators,” said the science and technology minister.
A trailer loaded with about a dozen electric cars, reversed on the National Highway. The police said the vehicle was on its route from Karachi to Lahore when it flipped over.
As a result, not only the trailer but the cars present in it also got damaged.
A police official shared that the electric cars were imported from South Korea. They were going to introduce in the country for the first time. The value of each car, estimated at Rs 9 million.
In December, the federal cabinet approved Pakistan’s first Electric Vehicle Policy. The Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy and the Mobile Manufacturing Policy were authorized by the federal cabinet. They were waiting for their approval by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on 16 December.
