Following recent changes to its visa policies, Dubai will no longer extend the grace period for tourists whose visas expire within 10 days.
Before the policy shift, visitors to Dubai could stay for up to an additional 10 days past the end of their visa’s validity without being penalised. However, from today, there is a daily overstay fee of AED 50.
Today, we anticipate hearing an official announcement from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). Dubai has joined the other UAE emirates in eliminating the grace period for visitor visas.
The National reports that an ICP official has verified the end of the grace period for visitor visas. He suggested that those who wish to remain in the country lawfully and avoid overstay fees apply for a 30-day visa extension.
Travel agencies of Dubai confirm the removal of 10-day grace period
The removal of the 10-day grace period has also been confirmed by local travel agencies. A travel agency claimed they’ve seen this shift in recent times.
A representative from the Amer service centre shared similar advice, saying that travellers with valid visit visas from Dubai immigration should depart the country before their visas expired or request for an extension.
For visa overstays, ICP lowered the day fee from AED 100 to AED 50 in October 2022. Tourists can now stay in Dubai for up to 60 days at a time with the introduction of new visa options.
