The world has finally seen the all-new third-generation MG3 at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, after a long series of teases, rumours, and leaked photos of test mules wearing camouflage.
The completely redesigned MG3 is a radical departure from the styling of the previous model, which was sold for over ten years, and represents a significant stylistic advancement.
Headlamps
The headlamps and pointed nose of the 2024 MG3 give it an aggressive appearance that almost exactly resembles that of an MG5 or MG GT.
The absence of a grille is compensated for by the large bumper intake, which is surrounded by aerodynamic wings.

After numerous teases, leaked photos of test mules wearing camouflage, and speculative renderings, the all-new third-generation MG3 has finally made its global debut at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show.
2024 MG3’s Front & Back
The 2024 MG3’s front end nearly looks like an MG5/MG GT thanks to its aggressive-looking headlamps and pointed nose. The big bumper intake, which is surrounded by aerodynamic wings, compensates for the grille’s absence.

All-new interior
The interior of the all-new MG3 is configured similarly to the MG4 EV, featuring a floating 10.25-inch central multimedia screen, a separate 7-inch screen for the digital instrument cluster, and a nearly identical flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel. MG claims that its iSmart infotainment system now has better graphics and responsiveness.

Under the main screen, the MG 3 gets a row of physical piano-style switches, and the center console houses a rotary gear selector.
Hybrid Plus Engine
The use of Hybrid Plus, MG’s first fully hybrid drivetrain, is the most noteworthy aspect. To power the front wheels, the system makes use of an electric motor and a 1.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine.
With the electric motor alone producing up to 250 Nm of torque, the total power output is 192 horsepower.
1.83kWh Battery
Energy is fed into the 1.83kWh battery of the MG3 through a separate generator motor, or directly into the main e-motor in case of emergency.
3-Speed Auto Gearbox
A three-speed automatic gearbox, which MG claims is more responsive than the CVT gearboxes frequently found in hybrid vehicles, is mated to the petrol engine.
Efficiency is the primary advantage of the Hybrid Plus drivetrain; the new MG3 is officially rated for up to 64 mpg (27 km/l) and emits 100g of CO2 per km.
This is made possible by the vehicle’s short-term, all-electric driving range of up to 50 mph (80.4 km/h) in EV mode.
However, MG claims that the electric motor can do most of the heavy lifting, including acceleration, before the engine needs to step in or take over because it can produce 134 horsepower on its own—more than the petrol engine can.
Hybrid Hatchback
Because of this, the new MG3 has remarkable performance numbers for a hybrid hatchback, clocking in at a sprint time of less than 7.9 seconds for 0-100 km/h, as opposed to 10.4 seconds for the previous model.
The car automatically chooses one of its five powertrain modes based on whether it wants the engine focused on providing drive, energy for the e-motor, charge for the battery, or to remain dormant.
Different Drive Modes
The available drive modes are Eco, Standard, and Sport. The Deputy General Manager of SAIC Motor International, Zhao Aimin, claims that the Hybrid Plus is two generations superior to systems made in Japan.
Price of the Beauty
Before the middle of the year, the car will be available for purchase in European markets; its Asia Pacific and Oceanic debut is scheduled to happen shortly after.
