Pakistan Customs officers stationed at Jinnah International Airport Karachi prevented the smuggling of mobile phones worth millions of dollars.
Customs agents stationed at the international departure were busy inspecting travellers with foreign origins, according to a spokeswoman for Customs.
A suspected person who had just arrived from Dubai at the airport in Karachi was being inspected by the officials throughout this process.
The statement claimed that more than 65 cellphones valued about over Rs7 million were discovered in his suitcase after it was searched by officials.
Due to the passenger’s failure to provide the customs officers with his tax information, a lawsuit has been filed against him.
A similar attempt to smuggle goods worth about Rs 8 million was thwarted by customs agents at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, and a passenger flying from the United States was apprehended.
A man from the United States flew aboard a private plane with illegal items worth Rs. 8 million, said a deputy collector of Customs. He stated that the passenger had been carrying valuable stuff including clothing, cosmetics, and other goods.
The official said that there were 290 shirts and T-shirts, 126 cosmetic powders, over 12 lotions, and 54 pricey perfumes.
