As a consequence of ongoing efforts by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecom operators to restore connections in flood-affected regions, there are now just 163 non-operational telecom sites.
This was emphasized in a statement made public by PTA. The entire restoration of telecom services in flood-affected regions, which is the telecom authority’s top priority, is now being worked on.

According to the statement, 129 cell sites in Sindh and 34 in Balochistan are now damaged by floodwater and inaccessible; however, other functioning sites nearby have insured that there would be no communication outage.
PTA is continually keeping an eye on the issue and will keep the public informed regarding the rehabilitation of abandoned properties, the statement continued.
It should be mentioned that as of September 6th, there were 320 non-operational locations. PTA also said that the optical fibre backhaul, which offers countrywide connection, had been fully restored.
According to the statement, this includes extended power outages, persistently severe rains that cause flood water to enter exchange facilities, and breaks in optical fibre line due to landslides.
It went on to say that PTA had been keeping an eye on the situation around-the-clock and had taken all reasonable measures to ensure that individuals could maintain contact during these trying times.
