On the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and the cryptocurrency price-tracking website CoinMarketCap Tuesday afternoon, prices for various cryptocurrencies became volatile for a brief period.
Binance Coin was valued at moreover $2 billion on Coinbase.com, despite the cryptocurrency’s current price of $527. Shiba Inu SHIBUSD, -0.32 percent was listed on CoinMarketCap.com at $22,026 at one point when it was actually trading at under $0.000034.
According to Coinbase and CoinMarketCap, the difficulties have been rectified on both sites. The corporations have yet to reveal what is causing the problems.
It was a “display glitch” that “did not affect trade,” according to Coinbase. In a tweet, Coinbase noted that certain users had previously seen inflated valuations for non-tradable crypto assets on Coinbase.com and Coinbase Wallet.
Several users have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the situation, mocking the experience of seeing significantly inflated prices in their Coinbase wallets.
