OpenAI revealed in a recent announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that ChatGPT now has the ability to access the internet for real-time information.
Removing its previous limitation of relying solely on data until September 2021—a significant advancement for the software.
To generate responses, ChatGPT will use the power of Microsoft’s Bing search engine to process user queries and extract relevant information from search results.
Updated Version of ChatGPT
This update is currently available to premium users enrolled in ChatGPT’s “Plus” and “Enterprise” plans, but it will be made available to all users in the near future. The release date of this update has not been specified by OpenAI.
ChatGPT’s knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, which prevented it from responding to specific inquiries about recent developments or events, was a significant limitation for some users.
They expressed concern that this restriction would limit their ability to conduct research when using the software. Meanwhile, the reports are roaming that OpenAI is currently in discussions about a possible share sale.
Valuation of $90 Billion
If the sale is successful, the AI company’s valuation could reach $90 billion, a threefold increase from its earlier January valuation.
The inclusion of Bing in ChatGPT’s internet browsing feature is due to Microsoft’s substantial investment in OpenAI.
Microsoft’s considered Investment
Microsoft currently owns 49% of OpenAI, and the company has communicated its ambitious revenue projections to its investors.
According to the Journal, OpenAI expects to generate $1 billion in revenue this year and even higher revenue figures in the following years.
