Pakistan captain Babar Azam has set a new record with his 19th ODI century. Azam batted brilliantly against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 opener at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

Former South African opener Hashim Amla’s record of 19 ODI hundreds was broken by Babar Azam, who broke it by two innings.
Bobby’s 151-runs Knock
Babar also set a new batting record with his 151-run performance in the first game.
After losing a few early wickets, Pakistan skipper Asif Ali and middle-order hitter Iftikhar Ahmed led their team out of trouble. Babar is now the Asia Cup captain with the highest score.
Virat Kohli’s record is broken by Babar Azam
Babar not only smashed the 19th-century mark, but he also shattered one of Virat Kohli’s records. He surpassed Virat Kohli’s 136 to become the Asia Cup captain with the most runs scored in one innings.
Virat Kohli made 136 runs as India’s captain in Fatullah (Bangladesh) during the Asia Cup 2014. Virat Kohli hit that innings while chasing 280 runs.
In that innings, Virat Kohli broke former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly’s record. In the 2000 Asia Cup, Ganguly scored an unbroken 135 runs against Bangladesh.
Babar Batted Admirably
Babar Azam scored 151 runs in 131 balls, hitting 14 fours and four sixes.
First, he and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan contributed 86 runs for the third wicket, followed by a 214-run stand in 134 balls with Iftikhar Ahmed.
Babar Azam batted admirably and helped Pakistan emerge from a crisis after losing early wickets. Pakistan lost two wickets during the power play and then two more in rapid succession in the middle of the innings.
