In their opening Asia Cup 2022 match at Dubai International Stadium, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets, but the team’s bowling unit received high accolades for containing Pakistan’s potent batting line and making life difficult for Indian batters despite the relatively straightforward objective. The early dismissal of KL Rahul by rookie Naseem Shah and two quick wickets of Rohit and Virat by the spinner Nawaz allowed Pakistan to regain the initiative before the Indian all-rounders secured the triumph.
The national team has already lost two significant blows in the form of Shaheen and Wasim, so the news of Naseem Shah injury during his most recent session surprised cricket fans, but skipper Babar Azam said there is no need to worry.
“No serious concerns over Naseem Shah’s fitness, it was just a case of cramps in a pressure game.” the national team captain remarked in a post-match press conference.
The rookie pacer terminated KL Rahul’s innings in his first over with a brilliant delivery, and he finished his four overs with figures of 2 for 27 after clean bowled Suryakumar Yadav. Nawaz achieved a final score of 3 for 33.
Player of the game honors went to Hardik Pandya for his all-around effort. He played beautifully with the ball, getting 3 for 25 before quickly scoring 33 off 17 balls. In order to assist his team in winning, Ravindra Jadeja also scored 35 runs off 29 balls.
