Strengthening the country’s ambitions to become a manufacturing powerhouse, Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 13 in India.
Apple’s contract manufacturing partner Foxconn’s factory in Chennai is producing the flagship device, according to sources.
Apple said in a statement, “We are excited to begin making iPhone 13 — with its beautiful design, advanced camera systems for stunning photos and videos, and the incredible performance of the A15 Bionic chip — right here in India for our local customers.”
Apple started producing iPhones back in 2017 with iPhone SE in India. Presently it produces some of its newest iPhones in the country inclusive of iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and now, iPhone 13.
With the A15 Bionic chip, the flagship iPhone 13 provides super-fast performance and power efficiency, extended battery life, and a flat-edge design with excellent durability.
Customers in India, among other regions, were able to purchase the iPhone 13 at the same time as those in the United States – a first for the country.
Apple has a lengthy history in India, dating back more than two decades. Apple inaugurated its online store in September 2020, and is set to further its commitment to the country with the forthcoming inauguration of Apple Store.
