The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is unlike any phone you have seen before. It is a tri-folding smartphone that opens up to a massive 10-inch screen, yet folds down thin enough to sit in your pocket. Samsung launched it in December 2025 and priced it at $2,899 in the US, one of the most expensive phones ever made. Pakistani buyers are curious, and rightly so. Here is everything you need to know about the specs, the global price, and whether you can actually get one in Pakistan.

What Makes the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Special

The core idea is simple: instead of folding once like a normal foldable phone, this device folds twice, using two separate hinges. The Galaxy Z TriFold is a folding phone with two hinges so its internal screen opens out to be the size of a 10-inch tablet. That is a big deal. Most foldable phones today open to around 7-8 inches. This one goes to a full 10 inches, closer to a compact tablet than a phone.

Measuring just 3.9mm at its thinnest point, Galaxy Z TriFold delivers flagship-level performance powered by the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a 200MP camera, and the biggest battery Samsung has ever had in a foldable phone. That combination of extreme thinness with powerful specs is what makes it stand out globally.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is basically the point where foldables stop feeling like a phone that opens wider and start feeling like a real attempt to replace a tablet. It is a tri-fold device that expands into a massive 10-inch screen, but it still stays pocketable enough that you will actually carry it.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Full Specs at a Glance

  • Display: Two Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz displays; when unfolded, the phone is 10.0 inches with a screen resolution of 1584×2160, measuring approximately 159.2 × 214.1 × 3.9-4.2mm.
  • Cover Screen: The outer screen is a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Chipset: The Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is one of Qualcomm’s most powerful chips for phones, and Samsung customized it to meet the performance demands of a tri-folding device.
  • RAM and Storage: Samsung is generous with the storage and RAM of the Galaxy Z TriFold. The phone comes with 16GB of RAM and buyers can choose between 512GB or 1TB of internal storage.
  • Cameras: The Galaxy Z TriFold has three cameras at the rear: a 200MP primary camera with a wide lens, a 12MP secondary camera with an ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP tertiary camera with a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. All three cameras have phase detection autofocus, and the primary and the tertiary also offer optical image stabilisation (OIS).
  • Battery: The battery of the Galaxy Z TriFold is 5,600mAh, the largest battery capacity seen on a foldable Samsung phone. The phone has 45W wired charging, which is new for foldable Samsung phones.
  • Software: The Galaxy Z TriFold comes pre-installed with Android 16 and One UI 8. Samsung has promised 7 years of OS and security updates to this device.
  • Durability: Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, ultrawide-band (UWB) connectivity, a USB Type-C port, and an Advanced Armor aluminum frame.

How Much Does the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Cost Globally

Galaxy Z TriFold is available throughout the US at Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung.com, starting at $2,899.00. That is roughly three times what a normal flagship Android phone costs. In South Korea, the price was 3,594,000 won, around $2,450.

The phone launched in stages. It was released first on December 12, 2025 in South Korea, and on December 19, 2025 in Singapore and the UAE, and on December 22, 2025 in Taiwan. It was released on January 30, 2026, in the United States. Despite the high price, demand was strong. A day after the Z TriFold was released in the US, the phone became sold out immediately after it released.

There is one unusual twist. The TriFold has now been discontinued. A Samsung spokesperson told Bloomberg that the Galaxy Z TriFold will be discontinued in the US and in its home market. Once the current stock is gone, Samsung will not be making any more of them. However, do not read too much into that. Samsung is developing a second-generation TriFold phone, rumored to launch in 2027, and it is expected to be thinner and lighter. So the tri-fold category is not going away, it is just evolving.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in Pakistan: Availability and Price Expectations

This is where things get complicated for Pakistani buyers. We should not expect to see the Galaxy Z TriFold arrive in Pakistan anytime soon. Samsung has not announced any official Pakistan launch, and the device does not appear on Samsung Pakistan’s official Galaxy Z page.

That said, grey market import estimates are floating around. Local price tracking sites put expected import prices anywhere from around Rs. 640,000 to over Rs. 800,000. The smartphone’s price could exceed 800,000 PKR. Keep in mind these are not official prices, they are estimates based on the US retail price, current exchange rates, import duties, and local dealer margins.

There is also the PTA registration issue. A fixed PTA Tax figure is not available yet for the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. Imported or non-PTA units require DIRBS approval before regular SIM use, while locally supplied PTA-approved stock does not need an extra PTA payment. This means if you import one yourself or buy from a grey market dealer, you will likely need to pay an extra registration fee through the PTA’s DIRBS system before your SIM works in it.

Repair is another concern. Being a new tri-fold design, durability concerns, especially around the hinge mechanism, repair cost, and availability of parts in Pakistan, may be higher than standard smartphones. A cracked foldable screen is expensive anywhere in the world, and in Pakistan, specialty parts for niche premium devices can take weeks to arrive.

Should Pakistani Buyers Care About This Phone

For most people in Pakistan, the answer is honestly no, not right now. The Galaxy Z TriFold is an engineering showpiece designed for a very small segment of buyers globally. Even in the US, the obvious catch is the price. At $2,899, this is not meant to be a mainstream phone. It is a premium device for early adopters and people who specifically want one device that covers both phone and tablet use.

However, if you work in a field where a big, flexible screen saves you real time, think architects, designers, mobile professionals, or content creators, the idea of a phone that becomes a 10-inch workspace is genuinely compelling. The bigger display also makes Samsung’s software features more meaningful. Samsung DeX works without a secondary monitor, which turns the TriFold into a legit portable workstation when you want it.

If you are also watching the flagship foldable space in Pakistan, you may want to read our take on Google Pixel 10 Pakistan pricing and what local buyers should know, which covers another premium phone with a very different approach.

The bigger picture is this: the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold proves that foldable technology has moved well past being a gimmick. A 10-inch, 3.9mm-thin phone that fits in your pocket was not possible just three years ago. Pakistan may not get an official version soon, but the technology it introduces will show up in cheaper, more mainstream phones within a few years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold officially available in Pakistan?

No. As of mid-2026, Samsung has not announced an official Pakistan launch for the Galaxy Z TriFold. The phone is not listed on Samsung Pakistan’s website. It may become available through grey market imports, but no official retail date has been confirmed.

What is the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in Pakistan?

There is no official price yet. Grey market and import estimates from local tracking sites range from around Rs. 640,000 to over Rs. 800,000, depending on exchange rates, import duties, and dealer margins. Prices can change quickly.

Will I need to pay PTA tax if I import the Galaxy Z TriFold?

Yes. Any phone imported privately or bought from the grey market needs to be registered through the PTA’s DIRBS system before a Pakistani SIM will work in it. The PTA tax amount for this device has not been officially set yet, but given its high retail price, it is likely to be significant.

Is the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold discontinued?

The first-generation model has been discontinued, meaning Samsung will not produce more units once current stock runs out. However, Samsung is reportedly working on a second-generation tri-fold device expected in 2027. The tri-fold category itself is continuing.
