President Dr. Arif Alvi has presented the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) with the ‘Education Excellence Award’ for its outstanding efforts in advancing high standards of learning and scholarship in the province. Prominent universities from the four provinces and the federal capital region were honored for their contributions to education at an event held at the Aiwan-e-Sadar and organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI).
The president presented the prize to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Vice Chancellor of UAJK. After hearing of the university’s high-level acknowledgment, Vice Chancellor Abbasi vowed to keep working to give students an excellent education and moral direction as they go on to shape the country’s destiny.
UAJK has a history of providing quality education
Since its founding in 1980, the university has earned a name for itself in the world of higher education by providing students with a broad multi-disciplinary education in fields as diverse as engineering, medicine, the social sciences, and the natural and physical sciences. Within a short period of time, the current administration of the university has undertaken a reform agenda that has elevated UAJK to the status of one of the country’s premier educational institutions. The University of Azad Kashmir (UAJK) is home to 86 different degree programs across 29 different departments and 4 faculties. Its roughly 10,000 students benefit from the dedication of its faculty, 133 of whom hold doctoral degrees.
Chattar Klass, on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad, is home to the university’s brand new, cutting-edge campus. The campus, funded in part by the Saudi government, can accommodate approximately 7,000 students and is known for its relative quiet. The newly built King Abdullah Campus allows the university to increase its academic activities and operate at full capacity. It is located 20 kilometers from Muzaffabad city on the Muzaffarabad-Islamabad Highway.
The university’s dedication to developing the region and offering an excellent education was recognized with the Education Excellence Award, according to the press release.
