The federal government has announced the expected cost for the approaching 2023 elections, which was presented in detail in the National Assembly.
The upcoming general elections would almost certainly be the most expensive in Pakistan’s history, with an estimated cost of Rs424 billion to set up electronic voting for 133 million Pakistanis and 10 million overseas voters.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has predicted that the next elections will cost Rs. 47.41 billion in total. The cost of security, including the Pakistan Army, is expected to be Rs. 15 billion, and the cost of conducting electronic voting is expected to be Rs. 5.60 billion.
Official documents predict that the cost of printing ballot papers will be Rs 4.83 billion, and that the cost of staff training for the polls will be Rs 1.79 billion.
The document also revealed that the total cost of holding elections in each province is anticipated to be Rs. 18.36 billion. Polls in Punjab and Sindh are expected to cost Rs. 9.65 billion and Rs. 3.65 billion, respectively, while elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are expected to cost Rs. 3.95 billion and Rs. 1.11 billion, respectively.
