Transworld has successfully shifted international traffic to SMW5’s available capacity, according to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, and plans to add more bandwidth to SMW5 within the next 48 hours.
According to a PTA spokesperson, the Consortium that manages TW-1 will soon announce the date for the restoration of the TW-1 link. It should be noted that the cable has been down for more than 26 hours and has yet to be restored.
On Monday evening, a cable cut was reported in the TWI submarine cable, affecting internet speed in Pakistan. According to PTA, the cable cut occurred in the Transworld submarine cable system approximately 400 kilometers off the coast of Pakistan.
This fault has resulted in an outage of international bandwidth and a degradation of internet services for Transworld users.
According to a spokesperson for the PTA, the consortium in charge of TW-1 is working to identify the fault and its severity, after which the restoration date will be announced.
Users around the country will expect glitches and slower internet connections until the problem is resolved.
Officials have not given an ETA for the submarine cable’s restoration, and it might take hours, days, or even weeks before it is fully operational again.
