According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his desire for the Lahore Qalandars to win the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, during which he suggested the franchise’s decision to pick Shaheen Shah Afridi, a young captain, will pay off.
Aqib Javed, the newly-appointed skipper and Director of Operations, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs were also present at the meeting.
“Youngsters have always changed the course of matches,” the prime minister stated.
He went on to say that the Qalandars had established a “unique” status among PSL franchises. “One of the Qalandars’ specializations is talent hunting at the grass-roots level.”
The prime minister also praised the young pacer’s performance in the T20 World Cup, which was a key factor in Pakistan’s historic victory over India, and urged him to keep making his mark in cricket.
Meanwhile, the franchise’s CEO informed the prime minister of the Qalandars’ future cricket goals and commended the franchise’s progress in the Kamyab Jawan Sports Program.
The Prime Minister praised the Lahore Qalandars and the Kamyab Jawan Program for their accomplishments.
