Affordably priced but feature rich phones seem to have worked in POCO’s favour this year. The company, today, announced that it has sold three million units of the POCO C series devices on Flipkart since their launch in the country. The POCO C series was first announced in September and was launched late in that month. They are priced in the sub-10k segment and consist of the POCO C3 and the POCO C31 smartphones, both of which are “reigning” in the sub-10K segment, according to POCO. While the sub-10k segment is a high volume market, touching three million in less than three months should still impress many.
It’s also worth noting that though POCO is a brand independent of Xiaomi now, the company follows a similar strategy. The fact that it has sold so many variants of the POCO C series could be a pointer that it is the successor to Xiaomi’s Redmi series, which hasn’t seen many updates in recent times. The parent brand has instead been focusing on the Redmi Note and Mi series, which are mostly priced above the Rs. 10,000 price range. POCO could use this opportunity to build a niche for itself in the budget segment in India, which still comprises a huge part of the smartphone sales, according to analyst estimates.
POCO C31 specs and features
The POCO C31 has a 6.53 inch HD_ display with the MEdiaTek Helio G35 octa-core chipset and a 5000 mAh battery. It comes with 3GB and 4GB RAM and has 32GB and 64GB storage variants, which are acceptable for the sub-10k price points. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back and is sold in Royal Blue and Matte Black colours. There are three cameras on the back, with a 13MP primary camera and two others for macro and portrait shots, which have 2MP sensors each. The bummer here is the fact that the phones still sport Android 10 out of the box.
POCO C3 specs and features
The POCO C3 has more or less the same specs as the POCO C31, but is priced a little lower than that device. Along with Matte Black and Arctic Blue colours, this device can also be bought in a Lime Green colour.
