Syed Amin-ul-Haque, Federal Minister for Information Technology, has stated that 5G will be available in the country in July of next year.
On Thursday, during his visit to Karachi University, he emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Information Technology and Universities in order to meet future needs. He stated that smartphone manufacturing has begun in Pakistan.
Earlier this month, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Syed Amin-ul-Haque urged Meta, Facebook’s parent company, to open an office in Pakistan.
The Ministry of IT and Telecom announced in a series of tweets that the minister met with a high-level delegation from Meta in Romania.
The International Telecommunication Union Ministerial Conference has brought together 186 ministerial delegations in Bucharest, Romania (ITU PP-22).
During the conversation, Haq urged Meta to open a local office in Pakistan, and platform representatives promised to visit the country soon.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geneva Office, Khalil Hashmi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Romania, Dr Zafar Iqbal, both attended the meeting.
Haris Mahmood Chaudhry, Chief Executive of the Universal Service Fund, briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s broadband service projects.
