Famous actor Zia Mohiuddin, who was considered a legend in his own time, passed away at the age of 91 in Karachi, according to the local news channel.
Earlier, NAPA sources claimed that Mohiuddin had been checked into a hospital’s intensive care unit.
Zia Mohiuddin, the National Academy of Performing Arts’ (Napa) founding president and chief executive, was made president emeritus of Napa last year.
The late British-Pakistani was well-known for his exceptional compering, broadcasting, poetry and prose recitation, acting, and theatre direction. He taught hundreds of students who are now employed in various TV production and acting industries.
Zia Mohiuddin Life and Career
Zia Mohiuddin, who was born in Faisalabad on June 20, 1931, received his degree from Government College in Lahore. When he returned to Pakistan after finishing his studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, he produced, directed, and participated in many plays.
He had a remarkable role in the David Lean film Lawrence of Arabia in 1962, then in Fred Zinnemann’s Behold the Pale Horse in 1964, and last in Jamil Dehlavi’s Immaculate Conception in 1992.

Despite a strong plot and soundtrack, the late actor’s 1970 starring debut in Lollywood’s Mujrim Kaun did not prove to be a commercial success. This is despite the fact that he was best recognized for his considerable work in British television.
He travelled to Pakistan in 1970 and hosted PTV’s now-famous Zia Mohiuddin Show. Later, he agreed to take the director position at the PIA Arts Academy.
Zia Mohiuddin founded Napa in Karachi in 2005. He received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz award for art in 2012.
A Carrot is a Carrot, Theatrics, and The God of My Idolatry Memories and Reflections are among the three works he has written.
After Zuhr prayers, today (Monday), the funeral prayers for the late actor will be recited at Imam Bargaah Yasrab in DHA, Phase 4.
The interim chief minister of Punjab, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and his family expressed their sorrow over Zia Mohiuddin’s loss.
He expressed his sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and said on the local news station that Mohiuddin was a talented artist.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the federal minister of information and broadcasting, also expressed her sincere sympathies to the late actor’s family.
