The men’s 100m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics will take place over two days. The event begins with preliminary rounds on Saturday. Round 1 follows. The semi-finals and final will be on Sunday. In Australia, the final will be early Monday morning.

The second day will start with three semi-final races. Each race will have nine sprinters. The top two from each heat and the next two fastest runners will go to the final.
The field is very strong. It includes Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy, the defending Olympic 100m champion. Noah Lyles from the USA is another top competitor. He is the current world champion in both the 100m and 200m. He also won bronze in the 200m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Browning and Azzopardi’s Paris 2024 Dreams End in 100m Heats
Andre De Grasse from Canada will also compete. He is the defending 200m champion and won bronze in the 100m at Tokyo. Fred Kerley, another top sprinter, will join them. He was the runner-up in the 100m at Tokyo and a world champion in 2022.

Kishane Thompson from Jamaica has the fastest time this season. He ran 9.77 seconds at the Olympic trials in Kingston. Ferdinand Omanyala from Kenya holds the second-fastest time this season. Noah Lyles is third with a time of 9.81 seconds. He set this time at the London Diamond League. Oblique Seville from Jamaica is just a hundredth of a second behind him. Marcell Jacobs has a best time of 9.92 seconds this year.
Usain Bolt still holds the Olympic and world records for the 100m. His Olympic record is 9.63 seconds, set at London 2012. His world record is 9.58 seconds, set in 2009.
Australia has two entries in the 100m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Rohan Browning and Joshua Azzopardi both competed in round 1. Both were eliminated.
Joshua Azzopardi ran 10.20 seconds in heat 2 and finished fourth. Rohan Browning ran a season-best time of 10.29 seconds in heat 6 and finished sixth. Only the top three in each heat and the next three fastest runners moved to the semi-final.
