Twitter, now known as X, continues on its downward spiral under Elon Musk’s leadership, eliminating innocuous features with which he simply disagrees.
Twitter eliminating innocuous features
Except for direct messages (DMs), he now wants to remove the option to block anyone on the site. Musk previously stated his plan to remove this feature, claiming that it “makes no sense” to block someone instead of merely muting them. Because of this, the mute option is here to stay.
Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs

People were quick to point out that he has frequently utilised the block feature himself in the past.
The block option has protected many people from harassment, and it is a critical safety element on the network. Its removal may expose consumers to more undesirable items in their feeds and notifications, which they would prefer not to see.
Furthermore, as CNBC points out, some users utilise blocking to filter out advertisements and brands they want to avoid. The broad adoption of this practise could have a substantial impact on X’s financial success.
X terminated its free API earlier this year, causing countless third-party programmes to fail.
Only a year ago, when the network was still known as Twitter, it began sponsoring third-party apps to help users combat harassment on the platform.
Among these alternatives, Block Party has dropped its affiliation with Twitter as a result of the API changes.
Musk also stated that he would remove Light Mode from the X, requiring all users to adopt Dark Mode since “it is better in every way.” Fortunately, he did not do so following a tremendous response.
