During his visit to Karachi today (Wednesday), Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet with Ehsaas beneficiaries from Sindh and distribute Ehsaas Kafaalat cards to them.
Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar will brief the prime minister on the successful implementation of Ehsaas anti-poverty programs in Sindh. Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, and other legislators are also expected to attend.
The Ehsaas National Socio-Economic Registry Survey, which was recently completed, was used to identify the beneficiaries.
Since its inception in March 2019, various Ehsaas programs, such as Ehsaas Kafaalat, Ehsaas School Stipends, Ehsaas Nashonuma, Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships, Ehsaas Interest-Free Loans, Ehsaas Amdan, Model Panagahs, and Ehsaas Langars, have been successfully implemented across Sindh province to uplift the poorest populations.
1.31 million Households receive Rs. 14,000 biennial stipends under the Ehsaas Kafaalat programme. New Kafaalat beneficiaries are being paid across the province, as they are in other regions of the country.
Ehsaas Emergency Cash was distributed to 4.59 million poorest families across Sindh during COVID-19.
More than 9.6 million households in Sindh have been questioned by Ehsaas’ end-to-end digital survey.
In Sindh, 107 Ehsaas registration desks have been set up at the tehsil level to move the registry to a dynamic database.
Too far, the Ehsaas School Stipends have benefited nearly 1.8 million children aged 4 to 22 years in every Sindh union council.
The goal of the initiative is to bring out-of-school youngsters back to school. To alleviate stunting, ten Ehsaas Nashonuma Centers have been built in Sindh.
By the end of the year, Ehsaas plans to open Nashonuma facilities in all of Sindh’s districts.
The Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship program has awarded 10,300 need-cum-merit scholarships to deserving yet talented students studying in Sindh’s 26 public universities in the last three years.
The Federal Government is also contributing its 35 percent subsidy share in Sindh through the recently launched Ehsaas Rashan Riayat. The federal part of the subsidy, worth Rs. 350 per month in the province, will be given to each qualifying family on the purchase of wheat, beans, ghee, and cooking oil.
Several innovations are also being planned for the people of Sindh under the umbrella of Ehsaas, including Ehsaas Tahafuz and One Window Ehsaas, to expand the scale and scope of Ehsaas interventions in the province.
