An executive at Swiss tech giant ABB has remarked that China is crucial since it is one of the most advanced automated economies in the world.
ABB claims that its Mega factory in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, which was built at a cost of $150 million USD and spans 67,000 square meters, is the largest robotics R&D, manufacturing, and application base for the firm anywhere in the world.
Sami Atiya, Head of ABB Robotics and Discrete Automation Business Unit Remarks
On a recent visit to the facility, Sami Atiya, head of ABB’s Robotics and Discrete Automation Business Unit, remarked that China would be responsible for more than half of the world’s robot installations in 2021.
“As a result of its tremendous investment in industrial robotics, China has entered the top five countries with the highest robot density. The number of robots in China is expected to double by 2025, making it the world’s fastest-growing robot market.”
Atiya predicted that the Shanghai plant, one of three ABB robotics manufacturing facilities in the country, would contribute to China’s economic growth while maintaining a high standard of living.
Atiya noted that the extraordinary demand of Chinese enterprises for automation provides tremendous security to the company about its long-term commitment in the nation, and that the Shanghai mega factory plays a vital role in manufacturing robots in China and for China.
The CEO is certain that China will open up even more possibilities for robots and automation. Since its inception, the company has worked closely with Chinese educational and research organizations to foster a culture of innovation.
Atiya stated that ABB is eager to deepen ties with its Chinese clientele, take an active part in the country’s industrial upgrading and economic transformation, and push the boundaries of innovation in the automotive electronic equipment, industrial logistics, medical and pharmaceutical, new energy vehicles, and service sectors.
“I’m really proud of the team and looking very much forward to the progress that we will experience in China,” Atiya remarked.
