Sugar prices have risen above the double-digit threshold as a result of the nation’s persistent rise in inflation.
According to sources, even sugar has been hit by continuing inflationary pressures, resulting in a dramatic increase in the prices in a number of areas.
Nushki now has the highest price, at a whopping Rs. 220 per kilogram. This trend is repeated in other places such as Quetta, Kohlu, Daki, Washik, and Peshawar, where it costs Rs. 200 per kilogram.
Sugar costs around Rs. 190 per kilogram in numerous places across Punjab. Meanwhile, places such as Karachi, Lahore, and Multan, among others, are seeing prices of Rs. 180/kilogram.

ECC Meeting with Ministry of National Food Security & Research
It is worth noting that, at its most recent meeting, the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) authorized the Ministry of National Food Security & Research to work with all necessary agencies and authorities to combat the smuggling and hoarding.

Furthermore, the ECC requested that the ministry submit the most recent stock, availability, and wheat prices immediately.
Sugar prices have risen by more than 80% in the last four months. Despite rising sugar prices, the country exported sugar in July, with exports totaling 5,542 metric tons.
However, there will be no further sugar shipments because the sugar export prohibition has been in effect since August 10.
