Senate Committee demands report on internet outages
The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology with Senator Palwasha Khan in the chair met to discuss problems emerging from the slow internet and social media app.

Some members of the committee touched on the great affect on businesses, with Senator Humayun Mohmand pointing out that such problems have become a hindrance to the running of businesses.

The IT Secretary presented details of interruptions in services by mobile operators that he attributed to technical problems that will abate in the next few days.
As a result of this the Senate Committee has asked for a breakdown of the losses that have been occasioned by these internet and social media problems and has further ordered the authorities to address the issue within two weeks.
Mr. WISPAP reported that internet speeds are down by 30 to 40 per cent in the last few weeks affecting many business and individuals who depend on connectivity.
The most shaken sectors are, for example, call centers, e-commerce, and online businesses, which can, therefore, think about transferring operations to countries with stable internet connections.
