The Punjab government has announced plans to expand its official vehicle fleet in 2026. The government intends to purchase 108 new vehicles for ministers and senior bureaucrats at a total estimated cost of Rs1.14 billion. This initiative aims to strengthen mobility and security for government officials.
Approval of Recommendations
The provincial transport wing submitted detailed recommendations for the new fleet, which have now received official approval. These recommendations outline the types of vehicles, their allocation, and associated costs. Officials confirmed that procurement will begin following this approval.
Vehicles for Cabinet Members
Documents reveal that 28 vehicles for cabinet members alone will cost around Rs300 million. This batch includes a Land Cruiser, two Haval H5s, five Grande Altis, 10 Toyota Altis, and 10 Toyota Yaris, all designated for ministers and senior officials.
Bulletproof Vehicles
The Punjab government has also approved the purchase of two 4×4 bulletproof vehicles valued at Rs40 million. These vehicles are intended for high-risk assignments and ensure enhanced safety for selected ministers.
VIP Security Vehicles
Authorities have confirmed that 25 additional vehicles for VIP security costing approximately Rs27 million have also been approved. These vehicles will be used to provide secure transportation for visiting dignitaries and government officials.
Vehicles for Chief Minister Inspection Team
Further documents indicate that vehicles worth Rs530 million will be allocated to the chief minister’s inspection team. Officials stated that the procurement process is expected to move forward soon. The overall plan aims to modernize the government fleet while maintaining security, mobility, and efficiency across provincial departments.
