The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will block certain SIM cards. These SIM cards belong to canceled, expired, or deceased CNICs.
The PTA has started collecting data. They look at people with canceled or expired ID cards. They also check for deceased persons. PTA has sent messages to users. These users have SIMs at risk.
SIMs linked to canceled ID cards will be blocked from August 16.
SIMs with expired CNICs expired since 2017 will be blocked. Users must renew ID cards by September 2.
People using numbers of deceased persons must act. They must transfer the SIM cards to their own name by September 15. Users need the original death certificate for this.
The PTA has started a public information campaign. This campaign helps inform people about these changes.
PTA works to keep records updated. They ensure only valid CNICs have active SIMs. People should check their CNIC status and should renew expired CNICs as soon as possible.
This action helps avoid SIM deactivation. Users need to act fast. Deadlines are coming soon.
