The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA has announced plans to develop a new web portal designed to track telecom network coverage and service quality nationwide. This initiative has been confirmed by multiple reliable news sources and reflects the regulators efforts to strengthen oversight of the countrys telecom sector.
GIS Based Platform for Nationwide Monitoring
The new system will be built on a Geographic Information System GIS platform which will combine geographic data with telecom performance information for improved analysis and planning. Through this centralized digital portal PTA will be able to systematically monitor network coverage infrastructure deployment and service delivery across Pakistan.
Inclusive Data Collection from All Regions
The portal will collect and organize network data from all major telecom operators across the country including remote and underserved regions such as Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK and Gilgit Baltistan. By visualizing infrastructure and coverage patterns the regulator aims to better understand regional disparities and address connectivity gaps.
Interactive Mapping and Performance Visualization
One of the key features of the portal will be its ability to display telecom towers coverage footprints and service quality indicators on interactive maps. This will allow PTA to track quality of service trends identify coverage deficiencies and monitor ongoing network expansion with greater clarity and precision.
Supporting Better Policy and Connectivity Decisions
According to officials the project will be managed from the PTA headquarters in Islamabad and is part of broader efforts to enhance regulatory transparency data driven decision making and telecom sector efficiency. The portal is expected to support smarter policy formulation and improved access to reliable telecom services for users nationwide.
