Turkey’s fifth-generation KAAN fighter jet program continues to move forward as Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) advances development and production plans. The aircraft is designed to strengthen Turkey’s next-generation air combat capabilities and reduce dependence on foreign defense platforms.
First Deliveries Expected in 2028–2029
According to statements from TUSAŞ leadership, the first deliveries of the KAAN fighter aircraft are expected between late 2028 and early 2029. These projected deliveries are generally understood to be for the Turkish Air Force as the primary launch operator of the program.
Pakistan Delivery Claims Remain Unconfirmed
Reports claiming that Pakistan is set to receive KAAN fighter jets by the end of 2028 have not been officially confirmed. So far, neither the Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Air Force, nor Turkish authorities have announced a finalized delivery schedule specifically for Pakistan.
Strong Defense Ties Between Pakistan and Turkey
Pakistan and Turkey maintain close defense cooperation across multiple sectors, including aerospace, naval projects, and military training. Because of these strategic ties, speculation about Pakistan’s future interest in the KAAN program has increased, but no public acquisition agreement has been confirmed.
Why the KAAN Program Matters
The KAAN fighter jet is considered an important project for Turkey’s defense industry. As a fifth-generation aircraft, it is expected to feature advanced stealth design, modern avionics, and improved combat performance, placing it among the world’s emerging next-generation fighter programs.
Situation Still Developing
At present, the confirmed information is that KAAN’s initial deliveries are targeted for late 2028 to early 2029. Any claims regarding Pakistan receiving the aircraft by a specific date remain unverified until officially announced by relevant authorities.
