The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has agreed to designate a reserve day for the match between Pakistan and India on September 10, marking this high-voltage fight the only Asia Cup match that will have a reserve day.
“A reserve day has been incorporated for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4’s match between Pakistan and India, scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo,” a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday read.
PCB Complaints on Pak vs India Super 4 Asia Cup Catered
In light of the current bad weather in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where the remaining Asia Cup 2023 matches are scheduled, the PCB has voiced various complaints, seeking that a reserve day be created for the high-octane encounter between the arch-rivals.
They were concerned about the rain prediction and the event’s rescheduling, especially because the previous match between the two teams was rained out on September 2.
The upcoming match on Sunday is also under threat of rain, with a 90% chance of precipitation.
Moreover, the ACC decided on the reserve day after considering PCB’s reservations and objections. The day after the match between Babar Azam’s and Rohit Shrama’s teams on September 10 is designated as the reserve day (September 11).
Reserve Day Confirmation
However, if the match does not end on September 10, it will resume on September 11. The game will resume where it left off.
“If adverse weather suspends play during the Pakistan vs. India game, the match will continue on 11th September 2023 from the point at which it was suspended,” the statement added.
It further stated, “In such an eventuality, ticket-holders are advised to retain their match tickets, which will remain valid and will be utilized for the reserve day.”
However, if the match is postponed, India will have to play back-to-back matches because it is set to play against Sri Lanka on September 12.
