Images of the Chery Omoda 3 have emerged in China, revealing a compact SUV roughly the size of a Perodua Ativa.
Arrival of Chery Omoda 3
The Chery Omoda 3 will be sold in foreign markets, and it will be closely related to the Tiggo 3x, which received a major facelift for the 2023 model year.
As a result, the Omoda 3 should have the same dimensions as the Tiggo 3x, which is 4,200 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall, and has a 2,555 mm wheelbase. In comparison, the Ativa is 4,065 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, 1,635 mm tall, and has a 2,525 mm wheelbase.
For the time being, no powertrain details are available, but the Omoda 3 is expected to receive the Tiggo 3x’s 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 116 PS (114 hp or 85 kW) and 143 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT with nine virtual speeds.
The Omoda 3 looks almost identical to its sister model, with the same dual-tier lighting setup at the front. The upper LED daytime running lights have a distinct signature with dashed lines that appear to blend into the upper grille, while the main headlamps and fog lamps are located in the lower apron corners.
A rising beltline, black body cladding, a two-tone paint scheme, and 17-inch wheels (with 205/50 profile tyres) are visible from the side.
The Omoda 3’s rear end features high-mounted taillights connected by what appears to be a light bar that stretches across the tailgate and is joined by silver trim at the bottom of the bumper.
The dashboard of the compact SUV is dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment system accompanied by a digital instrument cluster.
The air-conditioning system’s physical controls are located just below the central air vents, and the center console has a cowled section for a storage cubby just ahead of the gear lever, as well as controls for other vehicle functions.
With Chery’s return to Malaysia, a slew of SUVs, including the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro, have already been planned for our market.
