Jazz, Pakistan’s largest mobile phone company, has announced a 10% increase in call rates for its prepaid customers, according to a statement sent to more than 7.5 million customers on May 24. A surcharge of more than 10% will be applied to each call costing Rs 3.50.
Call rates 10% increase
According to Pakistan Telecom sources, the company was previously charging customers Rs 3.20 paise per call. The company has now announced a 10% increase.
Cellular phone companies have raised the prices of call and data packages yet again. Jazz, Zong, and Telenor have all raised their package rates.

Companies, according to shopkeepers and retailers, have begun implementing the new rates. The companies’ super load has been raised from Rs. 50 to Rs. 100. The price of various internet and data packages has been raised from Rs. 10 to Rs. 25.
Similarly, monthly package rates have been raised. Monthly call package rates have been raised from Rs. 40 to Rs. 100. The weekly all-in-one package price has been raised from Rs. 10 to Rs. 20.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government passed a minibudget in January that increased withholding tax from 10% to 15%, much to the chagrin of the telecom sector.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), previously only the largest telecom company was permitted to raise package rates; however, in recent months, all other companies have been permitted to raise package rates with PTA approval.
