The BISE Lahore has made it compulsory for students to provide biometric data prior to the matriculation and intermediate examinations of 2026. This move is a landmark effort toward modernization and securing the process of academic assessment in Pakistan.
Extent of the Biometric Requirement
It is to be implemented that all the students who will be appearing in the 2026 matric and intermediate examinations will have to undergo a digital biometric attendance verification test prior to entry into the examination halls. The schools and colleges in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib have been included in this regard, upon which principals and administrative staff have been directed to ensure complete implementation.
How the Biometric Verification Works?
Students also need to give biometric impressions of both thumbs at the examination centers. The entire process of verification shall be carried out at the entry point from where the examination halls are located, and only after the verification, the students shall be allowed to take the examinations. Educational institutions shall arrange the required biometric devices to upload the data on the software system of the Lahore Board.
Purposes of Biometric Attendance
The major reason for this initiative is the improvement of the security of the examination process. For instance, the board aims to ensure that the identity of each student taking the examination will be verified digitally, thus eliminating the possibility of impersonations and other sorts of malpractices that are against global standards of a well secured examination room.
Responsibilities of Educational Institutions
It is the duty of the authorities in every school and college to:
- Installation and maintenance of biometric attendance devices.
- Train staff to use the software system for data upload.
- Make sure every student completes both thumbs scanning before exams.
- In case of any technical fault or anomaly, report to the Lahore Board immediately.
Impact on Students
It is suggested that every studentlund report to the examination center well in advance to undertake the biometric process. Failure to provide the necessary biometric details will deny access to the examination centers. The board has highlighted that every student must comply with the requirement to sit for the examinations.
