The Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), affiliated to Karachi Metropolitan University, raised the cost of its MBBS and BDS programs by more than 150%.

The decision made public by Dr. Nargis Anjum, the principal of KMDC, and approved by the committee that governs the organization chaired by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
The notification states that the open merit admission fee has increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000, which is a significant change.
Moreover, the library price went up from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 10,000, and the tuition charge has gone from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 117,600.
The social/activity fee for students has also increased from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000.
However, lab and IT costs of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 have added, along with a new development charge of Rs. 30,000.
Merit Seats Fee Increase
The application fees for merit seats have increased significantly, from Rs. 101,500 to Rs. 268,600.
Concurrently, the self-finance segment has experienced comparable modifications.
However, the self-finance admission fee has increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 100,000.
However, the library cost has increased from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 10,000, while the tuition charge has doubled from Rs. 600,000 to Rs. 1.2 million.
Furthermore, a news channel claims that the cost of transportation has increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 36,000.
In contrast, the social/activity cost for students has increased from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000.
Additionally, a cost of Rs. 50,000 has set for development, while fees for the laboratory and IT are determined at Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000, respectively.
Self-Finance Seats Fee Increase
The cost of the self-finance seat has increased significantly; it was Rs. 651,500 last year and is currently Rs. 1,421,000.
