While WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption to make chats private and safe online, users should still take precautions to protect the confidentiality of their own WhatsApp conversations. So that users may safeguard their WhatsApp accounts from being accessed by unauthorised parties, the company developed a special “app lock” function.
The instant messaging service has introduced a new Chat Lock feature that enables users to secure their private conversations and those of their groups.
Here’s how to implement this functionality and secure specific conversations within WhatsApp:
- Secures both one-on-one and group conversations
- Covers up the name of the person or group from the main Chats screen.
- Removes glimpse of incoming messages from notification tray
- Locked conversations are now located in their own sub-section.
- Seal conversations using a fingerprint, PIN, or password.
Pre-requisites
- Verify that the most recent version of WhatsApp is running on your mobile device.
- Valid WhatsApp account
How to Secure WhatsApp Conversations Through Chat Lock
- Fire up the most recent version of WhatsApp on your mobile device.
- To lock a specific user’s tab, you’ll need to either scroll through the chat list or conduct a search for that user.
- To begin a conversation with a contact, open the window and click on their name.
- Select the Lock Chat option by scrolling down.
- Turn the switch on and enter your passcode to verify your identity.
- Keep in mind that when you lock your phone, WhatsApp will use the same mechanism to lock your chats. So long! WhatsApp has now secured that conversation. To lock any other conversations, simply repeat the steps above.
How to Unlock WhatsApp Conversations
A new tab appears above all WhatsApp’s locked conversations. To access Locked Chat, slide down from the top of the screen. You just need to tap on it and verify your identity. You will have access to all of your private messages.
