The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) is worried about the budget 2024-25. They say it might make more smart workers leave the country’s IT industry because of high taxes. P@SHA Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan said the government promised to listen to the IT industry’s budget ideas, but they didn’t.
“Instead, they raised income taxes for workers, which will push more smart people out of Pakistan’s IT industry,” Khan said.
He also said the budget gives Rs79 billion mainly for government projects and IT parks. It doesn’t support the whole IT industry or make good choices for IT companies.
“Taxes are already a big problem. P@SHA has given the government facts and ideas many times,” Khan said.
“The government has basically made a bad situation worse for the IT industry with this budget 2024-25. They didn’t ask anyone who would be affected,” he added.
Khan said the IT industry is very important for Pakistan’s economy. It can help the country make money from exports, make jobs, and get money from other countries.
“Making taxes higher and not helping the IT industry in the budget will only make more smart people leave and stop the industry from growing and making new things,” Khan said.
P@SHA wants the government to change their plan and understand how important it is to help the IT industry in Pakistan.
