Despite a difficult period of cancellations and layoffs at HBO, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav remains committed to generating revenue quickly.
HBO’s Shows On Netflix
According to a recent Deadline report, Warner Bros. Discovery is thinking about licensing HBO Original Series to Netflix.
While this move is said to have been met with resistance from HBO’s veteran leadership, it is viewed as a necessary step to improve the company’s financial performance. However, there is some doubt about whether this deal will be completed.

According to reports, the show at the heart of this potential deal is Issa Rae’s Insecure, which aired on HBO for five seasons until its conclusion in December 2021. Other shows are expected to be included in the agreement.
This licensing agreement would not be exclusive, as Warner Bros. Discovery would still be able to show these shows on its own platform, Max.

This would not be the first time that a TV show or film would be available on multiple streaming networks. Avatar: The Way of Water is currently available to stream on both Disney Plus and Max due to contractual arrangements.
If this deal goes through, it will be Warner Bros. Discovery’s first major streaming deal since it sold a collection of canceled shows to free ad-supported television (FAST) networks like Roku and Tubi earlier this year.
The announcement comes on the heels of Warner Bros. Discovery’s recent rebranding and relaunch of HBO Max as Max.
As part of the rebranding, a new pricing tier for 4K video content was introduced. However, there were signs that the rollout was rushed, resulting in an embarrassing issue with the credits.
WBD issued an apology after mistakenly grouping writers, directors, and other contributors under a single “creators” label, which understandably irritated striking WGA writers.
