Google Maps recently added a feature in which you can swipe up to see curated lists of recommendations “from people who know the city well” in specific cities.
These lists compiled by top sites and the Maps community will be easier to find as a result of the new update.
Users can also expect curated lists from their favourite websites, such as The Infatuation’s restaurant selection, Lonely Planet’s travel guides, The New York Times’ 36-hour itineraries, and OpenTable’s recommendations for the best new dining establishments.
Lists based on locations
Furthermore, Google Maps will introduce new restaurant lists based on locations that have generated significant interest or acclaim on the platform.
These lists, which are being released this week in over 40 cities across the United States and Canada, will provide a variety of insights.
The Trending list, which is refreshed weekly, highlights establishments that have experienced sudden increases in popularity on Maps.
Meanwhile, the Top list highlights venues that are consistently popular with visitors. Finally, the Gems list aims to uncover a neighborhood’s hidden culinary treasures by highlighting restaurants that are relatively unknown.
You can also rearrange these lists to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
Furthermore, you can create ranked lists and use content from your social media channels to demonstrate why a specific location deserves its position.
This feature is scheduled to be available globally on Maps by the end of the month.
Google Maps is using AI to extract valuable insights from its Maps community. Maps uses AI to provide users with a comprehensive overview of a location and its highlights at a glance.
For example, while browsing restaurant photos, AI can identify dishes, display their prices, indicate their popularity, and even determine whether they are vegetarian or vegan.
