Google announced on Friday that it will stop providing updates and fixes for the Dropcam and Nest Secure security cameras. Both products will stop working and be incompatible with the Nest app as of April 8, 2024.
The company did send out offers to upgrade Dropcam and Nest Secure owners. Users of Nest Secure can choose between an ADT Self-Setup System and $200 to spend in the Play Store. Google offers a free indoor wired Nest Cam to Nest Aware subscribers who also have a Dropcam, while non-subscribers can get one at a 50% discount.

The tech giant also announced in 2019 that the Works with Nest programme would end on September 29, and that date has now been set for that year. Launched in 2014, the programme facilitates communication between Nest and other smart home devices. On September 29th, it will no longer support the script editor that has been used to build home automation projects, but the company is working on replacement options.
As part of its efforts to standardise its smart home products for use with Google Home and Google Assistant, The company has decided to end support for these devices.
