According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who on Wednesday presided over a parliamentary conference in Lahore, the coalition government agreed that elections should be held simultaneously across the nation in October or November.

The PML-N leader claimed that the Parliament had rejected the Supreme Court’s April 4 order to hold elections on May 14 and that the federal government’s position on the matter is still the same.
“Decisions regarding whether elections should be held and if they should be held on one day … regarding this there is complete unity in the allied parties.”
Since the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies were dissolved earlier this year, the topic of elections has been divisive and difficult.
The administration wants elections for the National Assembly and all provinces to be held at the same time later in the year, despite the PTI’s desire for polls in the two provinces to be held as soon as possible.
PM’s Narrative on Supreme Court’s Order on Elections
The PM stated that the SC’s role is not to arbitrate disputes but to issue orders in accordance with the Constitution and the law in reference to the SC’s directive to the government and opposition to have discussions.
PM Shehbaz stated that it was crucial to inform the populace that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took advantage of the circumstance rather than assisting the government in resolving the existing issues.
Even the Pakistan Army and its leadership were not exempt from the all-out attempts to sow anarchy and foster division in society, he claimed.
However, the joint efforts of every member of the cabinet, including the foreign and finance ministers, greatly improved Pakistan’s status.
“Some PTI agents outside Pakistan, who are enemies of the country, they played a role that even an enemy won’t play … they issued such statements and tweets,” the premier said.
Meeting of Parliament
It was previously stated that the coalition partners’ meeting was conducted to address the nation’s political condition. It was requested that every member of parliament attend the meeting.
JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other significant federal coalition members were present during the meeting.
The ruling coalition’s most recent meeting was on April 18, but no decision was made regarding whether the government should hold talks with PTI.
It has differing opinions about holding talks with Imran Khan to end the nation’s political impasse.
However, a few members, such as Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and the Balochistan National Party (BAP), have pushed for talks with Imran Khan.
Jamiat-e-Ulema-Islam (JUI-F) representatives had opposed the proposal, arguing that Imran Khan was not a genuine political force with which to interact.
