Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML) has been in full swing since late 2021, when it began full-scale local assembly of its vehicles. Changan Alsvin, its subcompact sedan, is one of Pakistan’s most popular passenger cars, and the Oshan X7 is also becoming more common on the roads.
Based on its recent success and milestones, the company intends to diversify its lineup even further by introducing two new crossover SUVs in Pakistan. Although no details have been released by the company, the teaser has revealed a few hints about these SUVs.
Details
The Changan CS35 Plus is a subcompact crossover SUV that will compete in Pakistan with the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, Kia Stonic, and MG ZS.
It has a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with 158 horsepower (hp) and 260 Newton meters (Nm) of torque that drives the front wheels through a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
MCML is expected to unveil the 2021 facelift of the CS35, which will include cosmetic and other changes. It has blind-spot monitoring, a panoramic sunroof, a touch-based infotainment system, automatic climate control, stability control, hill-start assist, parking sensors, and more.
Oshan X5 is the other SUV, a compact crossover SUV that will compete with the Kia Sportage, MG HS, Proton X70, Haval Jolion, and Hyundai Tucson. It’s a stylish SUV with a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 300 Newton-meters of torque to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

In 2020, the Oshan X7 made its Chinese market debut. It’s a high-end SUV with features like smart driver aids, autonomous braking, blind-spot detection, a smart infotainment unit, adaptive cruise control, and more.
Price Point
Changan has priced both SUVs to compete with mid-range passenger cars in their respective markets. Although MCML has yet to reveal pricing information for the new vehicles, it is safe to assume that the CS35 will cost around Rs. 4 million and the Oshan X5 will cost around Rs. 5 million.
