Babar Azam’s historic century sets several T20 records

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s standout batter, achieved his third T20I century in the second T20I against New Zealand.

Despite Pakistan’s mini-collapse, which left them reeling at 105/4, Babar demonstrated his class and held tall. Babar and Iftikhar Ahmed counter-attacked, assisting Pakistan reach a massive total of 192.

Babar Azam’s Amazing Century

Babar reached his century on the penultimate ball of the innings when he hammered a boundary, completing his century in only 58 deliveries.

Pakistan’s all-format captain broke the record for most T20I centuries by a captain, while also becoming the player with the second-most T20 hundreds.

This was Babar’s ninth T20 century; only West Indian legend Chris Gayle has more, with 22 hundreds to his name. Babar also has the joint-second-most centuries in T20Is, with only Rohit Sharma having four hundreds more.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s skipper across all formats, is on fire with the bat and poised to break many records.

Babar sees the upcoming New Zealand series, which includes five T20Is and five ODIs, as the ideal opportunity to achieve his goals.

Babar needs just one T20I series win against New Zealand to become the most successful T20I captain of all time, surpassing retired Eoin Morgan’s record of 42 wins as captain. He is now tied for 40 victories with Aaron Finch of Australia.
