China has officially launched the “Open Sea Floating Island” a groundbreaking platform designed for all-weather deep-sea scientific research. This development marks a major step in marine technology and offshore research, offering China the world’s first ultra-large floating research facility capable of operating in rough seas.
Purpose and Goals
The floating island is intended to support a wide range of research activities, including marine resource exploration, ocean ecosystem studies, and testing of deep-sea technology.
