Dr. Umar Saif, Pakistan’s caretaker IT Minister, claimed on Sunday that his nation is “well-equipped” to handle Qatar’s growing IT needs while he was in Doha meeting with officials from Qatari enterprises on behalf of thirty of the country’s top IT companies.
IT Minister in Qatar With Pakistan’s IT Firms
On Saturday, Pakistan’s inaugural IT team to Qatar landed in Doha for a five-day tour with the goal of luring investment and investigating prospects for Pakistani software companies and independent developers.
Aligned with wider developments in the Gulf, Qatar is aggressively broadening its economic base and concentrating on the technology sector.
Qatar is implementing smart city projects, establishing tech start-ups, and organizing technologically sophisticated events such as the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Strategic Change
In order to make the strategic change toward a knowledge-based economy, advanced digital technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and cybersecurity must be adopted.
Reputable governmental and private sector speakers emphasized the need for more trade and collaboration between the two nations during an event on Sunday called “Pak-Qatar Tech Connect,” according to the Pakistani IT ministry.
A number of significant business-to-business (B2B) exchanges took place at the event.
“Pakistan, a vast country just two hours away, boasts a robust IT infrastructure, a wealth of IT products, services, and a pool of skilled professionals that can undoubtedly cater to Qatar’s growing IT needs,” Dr. Umar Saif told Arab News from Doha.
Pakistani IT Companies To Establish Businesses In Qatar
At the conference in Doha, the minister claimed to have emphasized Pakistan’s IT potential and to have had “exciting meetings” with Qatari corporations to forge partnerships with Pakistani IT companies.
“This time, 30 Pakistani firms are taking part in this conference, but in the near future, Pakistan will be showcasing 300 IT firms in Qatar,” IT Minister said.
“There is a huge potential for Pakistani companies to expand their business in Qatar.”
He conveyed hopes that improved technological cooperation, deeper links, and shared progress between the two countries will spark by the Pakistan-Qatar IT conference.
“We also had a great meeting with CEO of Qatar Financial Center Yousaf Mohammad Al-Jaida and his team to help establish a process and incentive packages for Pakistani IT companies to expand their businesses to Qatar,” IT Minister said.
Goal of Delegation
According to the Pakistani IT minister, the goal of the delegation’s visit is to create a single, safe platform that will allow professionals from both countries to easily exchange knowledge, skills, and technical innovations.
By utilizing their technical expertise, both nations may advance their technology environments to unprecedented levels.
“This collaboration aims to create a secure technological ecosystem, aligning with Qatar’s remarkable strides in automating various business sectors,” he said.
“I extend an invitation to my counterpart Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Mannai to visit Pakistan at his convenience to witness firsthand the technological developments and collaborative potential between our nations.”
He recognized the importance of the Qatar Financial Center and Qatar Free Zone in giving Pakistani business organizations a global stage on which to establish and begin creative endeavors in Qatar.
