Suzuki finally unveiled the next-generation Swift at the Japan Mobility Show, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show, after an online preview in early October.
Though Suzuki calls it a concept, the model on display appears to be production-ready and is expected to be released as a formal production version soon.
Exterior Development
The new Suzuki Swift has a more curvaceous design while still maintaining its sporty essence. It now has angular LED headlights and L-shaped LED DRLs, as well as a smaller radiator grille with gloss black accents.
A sharper bumper and LED tail lights with distinctive C-shaped elements are notable changes to the rear.
The rear door handles, which are now located on the doors rather than the C-pillars as in the previous model, are an interesting change.
Interior Enhancements
With a redesigned dashboard that positions a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system above the central air vents, the interior takes an evolutionary design approach.
The steering wheel now has additional buttons around the center boss, and the air conditioning system’s circular controls have been replaced with toggle-like switches and buttons.
The instrument cluster includes an analog dial as well as a multi-information display, providing a combination of digital and analog elements.
Dimensions and Relatives
The Swift concept has a length of 3,860 mm, a width of 1,695 mm, a height of 1,500 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
These dimensions are very similar to the current Swift, with the same wheelbase, width, and height, but a 30 mm shorter overall length.
Powertrain and Security
Suzuki has not yet revealed the new Swift’s powertrain specifications.
While new Z-series and hybrid powertrains are expected to be introduced globally, it is possible that models in different regions will continue to use the K-series 1.2L petrol engine.
Notably, the Swift that was on display at the event was outfitted with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), implying significant advancements in safety features and technology.
