Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a processor built on 4nm process technology, over the weekend.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2
In comparison to the Gen 8 chips, this chipset is designed for smartphone manufacturers looking for a powerful platform suitable for more affordable smartphones.
The Snapdragon 7s’ CPU is less powerful than its Snapdragon 7 series contemporaries, and the ISP (Image Signal Processor) is also less impressive, implying a slightly lower overall positioning.
Snapdragon 7s’ CPU
There have been rumours that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 will be released alongside the Redmi Note 13 series, which is set to be released later this month.
Given the lack of a first-generation 7s or a second-generation Snapdragon 7, the naming strategy is as perplexing as it has always been. Furthermore, the significance of the “s” is unknown, yet it obviously denotes lowered requirements.
Specifications
The CPU is designed with four performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.95 GHz.
Although the exact Adreno GPU type is unknown, it is known to provide FHD+ resolution at a fast 144Hz refresh rate.
FastConnect 6700 Platform’s Connectivity
The FastConnect 6700 platform’s connectivity is a step down from the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2’s 6900 platform.
As a result, the maximum download speed is limited to 2.9 Gbps, while Bluetooth functionality is limited to version 5.2, which still allows for low-energy audio connectivity.
Spectra ISP
The Spectra ISP can enable a smartphone with a single camera with up to 200 MP and 4K video capture at 30 frames per second.
LPDDR5 memory operates at 3200 MHz, while additional features include USB-C 3.1 connectivity and Quick Charge 4+.
Qualcomm has not stated when the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 will be available for Android phones.
Redmi Note 13 Series
Because the Redmi Note 13 series will be released later this month, the first Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 phone may be closer than we believe.
